Dream for Laura

We would love to tell you about 14 year old Laura, who we met last summer when she was undergoing treatment for an inoperable brain tumour. Laura had already recovered from one tumour when she was 10, but devastatingly, was hit with a second.

Laura knew that she wanted to make the most of the time she had left and wanted to create as many experiences with her family as she could, so they would have many wonderful memories when the inevitable happened, so she created a Bucket List. Team CADF had the honour of helping this kind hearted beautiful girl fulfil some of those items on the list.

In August we sent Laura and her family to London to enjoy the delights of The Escape Rooms, the beauty of the Ice Bar and lunch at The Shard, and also a tour of her favourite football team Spurs where she met the players! And also a trip to Warner Brothers Studios.

Laura passed away just 3 weeks after returning from London. We feel so happy that we were able to give her these experiences. This is what your fundraising and donations go to and that's why they are so important and why we love doing what we do, with it's massive highs and devastating lows. It's all so worth it to see those smiles in what can be a particular stressful, emotional and just generally tough time for everyone.

Laura was a beautiful person inside and out. When undergoing her treatment she started a YouTube blog called Big C Little Warrior to help other kids going through similar ordeals, to feel that they weren't alone. When she was younger she raised thousands of pounds for other charities by bake sales and knitting items - her altruism clearly knew no limits.

Laura was nominated for, and won, the accolade of Yorkshire Child of Courage and we feel, as we are sure you will agree, she so deserved!

Laura's mum Annette has since taken Big C Little Warrior to be a registered charity that provides beauty treatments for children suffering from cancer and we wish her all the success in the world!

A few words from Annette:

"It’s hard to put into words how grateful we are to Create A Dream Foundation for helping Laura tick off so many things from her bucket list. We knew that Laura had a second brain tumour, however we did not realise that just 3 weeks after the trip to London that we would lose her. Thank you Create A Dream for helping us create forever memories with Laura and for making Laura’s dreams come true."
